Philippines

The Republic of the Philippines in an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia and it consists of about 7,641 islands in the Pacific Ocean. Between three main islands belong Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila. The Philippines has a population of around 109 million and it is the 13th-most populated country in the world. 

The Philippines has a democratic government in the form of a constitutional republic with a presidential system. It is governed as a unitary state except for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The President functions as both head of state and head of government and is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The President is elected by popular vote for a single six-year term. Since 2016 the President of the Philippines has been Rodrigo Duterte.  During his administration,  there was a shift in foreign policy and the Philippines has become more oriented to China and Russia. The bicameral Congress is composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
